Langeais

One of our favourites.  The renaissance chateau

was beautifully restored in the C19th, and filled with

period furniture and tapestries

  • The restored drawbridge

  • Interior with furniture and tiles

  • the old keep and gardens

  • one of the many tapestries

The Bridge at Langeais

One family who visit us regularly never come to stay

without taking the opportunity to go to Langeais,

if only to have coffee in the square.

In 1491 Charles VIII of France married Duchess Anne of

Brittany at Langeais, securing the Duchy for France.  There

is a fine reconstruction of the event with commentaries in

English and French.
