slightly further - 35 minutes - but Baugé  with its castle, museum and beautiful old town this is well worth a visit.

the biggest freshwater collection in Europe is at Lussault-sur-Loire, near Amboise, but that is just more than 15 miles away!

 

Trains

Saumur railway station lies only a few minute's drive away, between us and the town.  The TGV makes a day trip to Paris a realistic proposition, though a lot cheaper if you book ahead

 

 

Montsoreau

The Chateau and town in March - even off-season they are really beautiful.  One of our closest, and favourites

... and in June.  Not to be missed.
